I have one. They’re a fraction of the price of a real one but it’s not without issues. Mine is not symmetrical. I’m probably the only person who’ll notice though. Works.

What was the make/part number, and what was the price?

I have a vinyl one. It was only $60 with a coupon. I had to buy a longer bolt to get the seat to stay more vertical. It gets the job done.
It's too bad matching ones from Corbin are $232 plus shipping (!) because they do look way better.

The name came from back in the day when steel mills were king here ,and we were sometimes referred to as the black hole of Ontario

I adopted that name to my race teams ( sleds-oval track ,1/8 mile ,and speed runs) in the 80's

There may have been alcohol and illicits affecting those decisions

Back to the point, I have since found a few backrests online, and for the price I will order something to try, as I am getting tired and a little sore from the kidney shots by the LSW (long suffering wife)

lol - Event Horizon ... almost point of no return. I suppose that is true. Exciting from different perspectives.

RE Black Hole of Ontario:

You may realize this already, but don't let anyone on north shore Lake Ontario put down The Hammer. While all the other communities lose their soul, character, and charm (think Mississauga - pithttt - if it had any to start with, and Toronto to name a few), The Hammer owns its soul and it is beautiful. Sure there are warts, but that is part of the character not to be sterilized out. I like the fact much of the core is frozen in the '70s, but it works. And The Hammer has the most beautiful countryside in the region - and I believe the most untainted. Lots to love Area 52.
