No remaining fuel or range indication - big issue number 2 with this freakin bike
#1
Okay,

the 29th I am gonna bring the bike in for my instable idle issue problem wich I am not going into detail here, but I already I addressed here:
http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=8120

So if that aint enough,; here comes big issue #2
Now I cannot see what my remaining range and remaining fuel....also when riding,
It does automatically show the 2 meters when you are almost out of fuel, but I dont get any figures...whats the cause of that?

The bike is becoming a real dissapointment to me.

Riko, I'm not going to be much help here as I have a '13 and the '14 service manual doesn't really cover fuel gauge display operation, but here is a thread : http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread....#pid106700

I don't know if it will help and mean no insult if you already know this.

Since it can still trigger the low fuel warning as the level falls, I'm guessing the float and sending unit are still working and sending the correct signal and it's the gauge itself or trip computer that is the problem.

I would try disconnecting the battery for a bit and see if resetting it helps. Other than that there isn't really much to do. I can't even find a diagram of this on the Internet to see if the trip computer is its own module or if it's integrated into the main ECU.

I'm seeing something extra tie-wrapped to the bikes handlebar switch harness's, what are they, what are the wires? purpose. if your bikes electrics has been tapped into or modified in any way, remove the modification, return the bikes electrics back to stock, pay attention to connections and damaged harness? retest.

nopes, nothing extra , no such extra wires, the bike is stock, no extra lights or electronic gadgets but a wire for the GPS wich is connected with the headlights.

I am going to wager a guess that the ECU on your bike either needs to be reflashed or replaced. i am sure the tech will scan for codes once you bring it in. This should point to what system(s) are malfunctioning on your bike. Hang in there and good luck.

I've owned my '14 std for a little more than a year now and it does what you're describing occasionally. Actually, twice. My theory is the fuel level module gets confused, especially when I start the bike when it's low on fuel on my sloped driveway. While on a slope, it's not empty, but when it levels out, it's on reserve, but it transitioned from 1/4 to E so quickly, it blows the module's logic.

"The bike is becoming a real disappointment to me." - Bummer. I hope you two make up.

My '13 does not show an accurate fuel level on the meter when I first start it up to go for a ride. After I get going and ride for a block or 2, I get an accurate fuel level reading. I could have a "1 bar" reading when I pull it into the garage and shut it down for the day. When I start it the next day it usually shows 3-4 bars and then after a couple of blocks riding it goes down to the "1 bar" reading. It's always been like this so I assumed it was a feature and not a bug. Smile
