I could use a bit of help.
I had my ECU re-mapped by Guhl.
Great result, what I was looking for.
One problem though, the engine light is on. I need to reset the fault.
I went on line and reviewed a you tube video, however the bike was not the 2017 model that I have.
There was enough of a difference in the plugs that I didn't want to fool with it and make a bigger problem.
I have the 2017 Honda CB 1100 EX model.

If you don't have the 2017 shop manual, here is a summary. The manual calls for a Service Check Connector tool (p/n 070PZ-ZY30100), about $20 from Honda, but copies on eBay for $10.
The tool is simply is a wire that shorts between the brown and green wires, but it is fool-proof, as shorting across other wires could do some damage. It's common to all Honda motorcycles, ATVs, and power products with fuel injection since about 2001.
If you don't have one and need it now, I use a paper clip that I have flattened the tips with a hammer. I mark the connector with a Sharpie so I can tell quickly which wires to connect.
the procedure for clearing an FI code is to:
- Turn the ignition key off
- Turn the engine stop switch to run.
- Remove the left side cover.
- Find the red 4-wire connector with a red cap over it.
- Install the tool, connecting brown and green.
- Turn the ignition key on - FI light should be on solid.
- Unplug the tool, wait 5 seconds, and plug it in again.
- The FI light should start flashing.
- Unplug the tool, turn the key off, and it should be good.

Thanks I have a 2017 manual on order. I found a you tube for the pre 2017 bike but there appeared to be enough of a difference to make me nervous about just jumping in.
Thank you for the procedure.

the left side cover on my 2017 EX does not have a red connector. The red connector is under the right hand cover and has only two wires, brown and green.

Southwind, that sounds like an accessory connector. Green is ground. The brown is most likely a switched 12v. A meter will verifiy that.
Seems connector placement is different on the ‘17s. If you have a service manual it will show where everything is.

The plug under the right side cover is for the power to the heated grip kit. As popgun says, it's a switched hot wire and a ground - definitely do not short across it or you could smoke the harness.
The reset is definitely on the left side. There is also a black 4-pin one on the left side stuck inside some sheathing towards the rear - that's not it either. Mine was hard to find, stuck behind all the wires, pretty much in the center of that area.
It is definitely a 4-pin connector, definitely there on the left side, should have a red cap over it. The factory service check connector is a 4-pin and wouldn't work on the 2-pin connector.
