CB1100 EX fueling & speedo
#1
Hi all,

I’ve been a member for a couple of years but this is my first post.

I have a 2020 CB1100 EX.

I knew when I bought it new it had ECU restrictions but I researched and found Don Guhl in the USA who could remove all the restrictions to your specifications. So I bought the bike with the intention of running it in, seeing what I wanted to do with it and then over winter sending it off to Don Guhl by which time you know he had stopped this service for VIN vehicles.

My problem now is I’ve read through a lot of this forum, found a lot of answers but not all.

The bike remains so under fuelled I’m sure this is shortening the engine life.
Are there other people who can access these ECU reliably?
Has anyone installed a resistor network with the IAT sensor to enrich the mixture?

The speedo on my bike is so far out, it reads 120+ before the restrictor cuts in. It’s so far out I use a GPS speedo which reads 111 when the restrictor cuts in.
I would like to make this accurate.

I absolutely love this bike.
I don’t want to make it 100HP + machine, I just want to use what’s available, smoothly and reliably.

Any help much appreciated.

John
Thanks

Congratulations and welcome to the forum, Ol’ RedJ. One member has cracked the ECU and his advice may be your only hope. See http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=18687

Hello Howdy and welcome to the forum

I don't understand this sentence in your intro:

"The bike remains so under fuelled I’m sure this is shortening the engine life."

We have quite a few members with between 70,000 miles and 100,000 miles on their bikes and some with over 125,000

I personally don't think the fueling is hurting the engine life any

Stock fueling is 100% safe and won't hurt the longevity whatsoever.

A simply resistor in the O2 plug will help low rpm on / off jerkiness.

If you aren't looking for more power- that's all you need to do.

Ride & enjoy.

Healtech make a speedo adjustment device. https://www.healtech-electronics.com/products/sh/

I’ve no idea whether it works but I have a Healtech gear position indicator which works well and Lord Popgun has Healtech’s on board diagnostic tool which, I’m pretty sure he thinks works.

Yeah, my gear position indicator works great and so does the diagnostic tool. I don’t use it much as I haven’t had any problems and we haven’t been doing much research since the idle problem threads.
