Hello to all on the CB 1100 Forum members.... It's been awhile since I have posted since joining in April of 2015, I hope all is well despite the current World situation. I have an issue with my 2014 CB 1100. I had to replace the stock battery in my bike because I thought it had gone bad being the original battery purchased with bike. My bike has always been on a trickle charger when not being ridden, which is not as much as I would like to. My battery charger is a smart charger which tells me the battery is fully charged. Yet my headlight comes on when key is turned, but when I hit starter button, my solenoid clicks!!!. I have 2800 original miles on her. I would hope the solenoid is not defective or something is loose? I live in Northern Arizona south of the Grand Canyon, and the bike is garaged always. I wonder if a mouse has chewed the wiring someplace which drains the battery. I intend to buy a factory manual to possibly troubleshoot this. I am trying to find video's online which show how to test for a small voltage leakage with a volt meter. Any info is appreciated, A Blessed and Merry Christmas to all of you and yours!

I would do a load test on the battery. I'm not sure your charger is capable, so if you don't have one, take it out and have an auto parts shop check it. Most likely it's time to replace it.

First thing I would do is make sure the battery terminals are tight.

Funny you mention batteries... I changed the one in my CB a few hours ago.
My battery tender said it was fully charged, read 12.4volts off the charger and then wouldn't start.
When hitting the button, the voltage dropped to 7.6V so not nearly enough to get it going.
Previous owner put a Walmart battery with 120CCA... the one I got is the same size with 230CCA.
Battery first... check that!

I did make sure connections were tight... Now I'm going to remove battery and charge it on old style charger 2amp. have it load tested. If it is good I suspect a mouse has chewed something to drain it!!! I will get some moth balls in socks and hang them off clutch and brake handles. mice don't like the smell of them. I appreciate all the feedback! I'm going to have a Rum & Coke in everyone's honor!!!!

I bet you that it is the batterie , just get a new one.

Agreed.
7.6V upon start-up is way too low. The battery is compromised.

Yeah, both guys have typical battery failure symptoms.
