I use counterfeit washers. They compliment the counterfeit filters!

The problem with copper and alluminium is that it ages, changing it's properties.
You need a soft metal to seal properly, and if it's too stiff (due to aging) it wound seat to do it's job. It's very rare to have an issue by reusing the washer, but if you want to be safe, it's easy to re-anneal the washer again: just heat it with a torch until red, and then let it cool at room temperature (don't use cold water or oil: you don't want to harden it: you want to anneal it!). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMLqlDSsQpA (I'd hang it from a wire insted of using pliers, but...)

Cheaper to buy new ones than use gas to renew them.

How did this post go from a serious threat from phony oil filters to 'counterfeit' washers. We need to focus more on what is going to hurt our bikes, and that is 2nd rate oil filters being sold at various venues. The outlets or stores that are selling these to us need to remove them or we simply buy from someone else.

I mentioned in the Forum earlier this last year, when I spoke to Honda on the phone about the lack of support for the CB1100EX or RS, the lady from Honda told me they read the Forum. They are aware of our concerns about the loss of the Retro looking bikes. Triumph and Royal Enfield are selling lots of cool retro bikes, and Honda is still favoring the robot looking bikes. It seems the youth of today do not like our CB1100, and they have the numbers. Heck, I would still buy the CB1000, the 'Big One', from the early nineties before any more transformer looking motorcycles.
