CB1100 Idle speed instability problem

Sorry for not posting lately. I've been out of town three weeks (company business and vacation), then first my wife's family was in town for a week, then my family was in town.

No, I haven't. And I am scheduled for another 2-week business trip the week after next.

I haven't had to do any checks. I rode the CB around Lake Superior with two friends of mine a couple weeks ago. Apparently a 1,700 mile road trip was just what the doctor ordered because the idle issue hasn't reared its head once since we hit the road on August 10th. My fingers are crossed that the issue stays resolved.

UPDATE for iacv replacement, here is a video about taking a throttle body apart.

It's in german but very visual, if you start at 19 minutes there is a surprise about getting the iacv out, i don't think we thought about this but it saves about two days work if i'm right, don't laugh!

Zams channel; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vHA-lNwujE

if i am reading this right you can even leave the two rubber hoses connected and just unbolt the top part first, move it aside and continue to free the iacv valve+plate. Smile

That would be great news Max

Hi Max. Can you please save me the time of watching the video and say what the two day time savings is? Thank you.

Brian. My high idle / low idle - stall condition came and left at will. Every time I thought something occurred to fix it (high speed running, change of gasoline brand, etc) it would come right back again. Good luck, and please keep us posted.

Dave, open the vid. Run the cursor to the 19 min point and click run.

Personally, I’m not seeing it. He already has the throttle body off the bike (not a CB1100).

The end was pretty neat where he shows his rig for cleaning injectors.

So what would happen if you leave the whole bike intact, lift the tank, remove only the right hand black throttle body cover and just take out the three security torx screws for the iacv plate from the top.
unclip the 4 pole connector and lift the iacv up and out of the bike, swap the iacv, put the plate with new iacv back in the bike and re-connect the 4 pole connector; that's all.

That is what he does at 20 minutes, our bike stays together.
Yes it's a different model bike but the throttle body is the same.

What do you think, Dave?

Even if you are taking your time it could be swapped inside one hour.
Does the service manual mention anything about replacing the iacv popgun?
