Although none of my 3 CB 1100's have had any idle problems I follow this thread with great interest.
For the life of me I can not understand that if there is an upgrade available in Europe but not (yet) in the USA !
What give ?

Emissions regulations are a PITA to accomplish, even for large makes.
When something is designed for a different market, the process of "federalization" (homologation for US market) can be quite complex. I am guessing with upgrades is the same thing.

Earlier threads on this forum indicated that the CB1100 ECM could not be re-flashed externally....a hole needed to be drilled for access.
For those of you who had it re-flashed, did you see it done...see the equipment connected?

No hole needs to be drilled. Don Guhl reflashes them. A number of members have had it done.

Thanks, popgun.
Wonder if Don Guhl can see the factory program number, before reflashing?
Be interesting how many revisions exist and associated with what model year.
Also if reflash was strictly for performance enhancement or if to compensate for idle issues.

You would have to call him for that info. I don’t think he fixes the idle problems though. He does not do email well, call.

Hello
I had also a idle speed instability problem on my cb1100ex 14’.
My Honda garage solved this problem by resetting the software embedded and controlling the ignition system. Now it works well, no more engine stopping, idle speed going up and down...I did this reset 3 months ago and so far so good.
My garage mechanic told me the issue was well known at Honda...
Try it....nothing to loose

Somebody in Honda USA need to talk to someone at Honda EU. You guys really ought to have the software update that is available in Europe... and possibly the rest of the world. It seems really odd for an international company to be so uncommunicative. Don't you think?
