I seemingly fall into the same category as ferret. I've only done weekend rides on my CB, but I've spent a number of hours in the saddle (with a stop for gas) with no ill effects. I actually really dig the stock CB1100 seat. The overall riding position is just perfect for me.

I'm doing my 1st service Sunday and plan to go somewhere soon to see how the seat is. I normally ride till I need gas and then I want off any bike for a break. My last ride,94 DR650, I made a couple 800 mile trips on it. Holy crap. there cannot be a less comfortable seat then the DR. I know it was not intended for long rides but, had to try. I can't help but think the seat on my CB will be like like LUXURY!! can't wait to go, just put the Road Comet on last night ooooooooooooooooo looks good.

Geez just back from 2 hour rideabout... Can't believe someone can't sit on this seat for 2 hours at a stretch.
Maybe I do have an iron butt ...

Heat and storms canceled my ride.
I'll get out in the AM for a shorter ride. Maybe the Griso seat was so bad for my bum, but the CB seat feels very good to me.
But seats are like software problems. Saying you don't have an issue does not mean that someone else doesn't have a problem.
The Griso seat is concave; maybe so that you can easily slide off the side to take corners aggressively. So I'm thinking of making it flat and having Spencer do his magic.

A buddy is going this route and I'm keen on testing the results.

You know, it's really odd some are fine with the stock seat some aren't. I know a lot of people just assume they will need to get a new seat; however, I did not want to spend the $ on an aftermarket seat. Shortly after I got the bike I did a two hour one way and two hour back trip. It got a bit unpleasant but (no pun intended) I figured it would break in. However, it got worse not better. It got to the point where I started to dread riding the bike. After 15 minutes the numbness would start, 10 minutes more and I could feel the sciatic nerve starting to protest. I think it may be a function of size and weight. I'm 6' 180. Maybe I weigh too much or not enough, maybe my posterior is too small or too big. Maybe the length of my legs change the geometry of my butt on the seat. I've got no idea but I am feeling a lot better about things with the Corbin on there.

You may be on to something. I'm 165 and on the lean side with no built in padding on the bum and very long legs. I like thigh support when I can get it.

My seat was shipped to Russell-Day Long last week for a complete make over. This will be my third Russell - best thing you can do for any bike you buy. Now I just have to wait out the next three weeks until it gets back from Calif. Pricey - mine will set me back $600 - but I went with leather and support springs.
