Black side covers
#1
I have been thinking about changing the side covers for a while and decided to see what it would look like. Got a can of the rustoleum version of plasti dip and sprayed them. I really like the black and think that a permanent flat black paint job is on the way. The rubber stuff will come off to easily for a permanent job. Also wondering if I could just buy them in black and put away the originals. Anyone?

Depends on how much you want to spend. Samurider sells Honda OEM side covers in matte black (same ones from the '14 Canadian CB1100) for about $185/set plus shipping.

The ones you sprayed look pretty good. If you can do as good a job with the permanent paint, that should work fine.

If you go to samurider.com you can buy the matte black side covers with chrome emblems for $210 a set. That includes shipping.

I like how it ties in with the other covers on the engine. Looks so much better than the silver. Fredkb, how are they holding up over time? I got a blemish on the right cover....spec of dirt and it was all down hill after that lol. I doesn't show in the pic but it does to the eye.

I bought black side covers from another forum member and they should arrive Tuesday. You could post a wanted ad in the forum classified section.

My plasti dip covers were to tacky and lint stuck to it whenever I tried to wipe it down, so I found a fellow forum member that had a set for sale and I bought them and he shipped them to me. I will post pics when they arrive.
