Hello everyone! I noticed the other day while cleaning my 1100 the right side cover has a slight crack in it where the bolt goes in. not all the way through. I've never had the cover off and was wondering if anyone has had a problem with theirs cracking. I called my local Honda shop and was surprised to find out that a plastic side cover was well over 150.00 bucks!!! To me that's nuts!!!!

I think there has been ONE report. And that turned out to be his kid put the screw in wrong and broke the cover or didn't have it installed correctly when he tightened it down.
You can get a cover for about $100 from an on-line parts house.

check the classifieds, sometimes some come up there and if guys are looking for black or red that means their silvers may be available.

The market policy for this kind of stuff always seems to be all the market will possibly bear. Especially for older stuff where you can't possibly find a substitute or make one. I recently paid $5 for a rubber frame plug the size of a thimble for my old Suzuki. I could have left the hole open or jury rigged some black RTV, but if you dote on your antique bike that just would never do, would it? Then pay up and shut up!

Same thing happened to mine so I called and asked if it was covered under warranty--got a no dice. I ended up pulling it off and using guerilla glue on the back to stop it from splitting further. I wouldn't be upset if the replacement was around $35 however, since it is around $100 and not covered under warranty I'm kinda po'd. Oh well such is life.

You have to be careful putting that bolt in to the cover. There is a shoulder and it you get it on the edge of the hole of the cover and start tightening, you will crack the cover
