Cam Chain Tensioner/Lift ?
#1
Has anyone replaced the cam chain tensioner and lift? I have the valve cover off to check clearances and was wondering what else would have to come off to replace the tensioner stuff.

Based on the current answers, I assume nobody has replace the cam chain tensioner lifter before.

If it isn't broke, don't fix it.

Hey Dave ... the point is I don't know if its broke or not.  I just know I was hearing a loose tappet kinda of noise and the valve clearances are all perfect.  Also know that my previous 1991 Honda Nighthawk 750 needed a new cam chain tensioner at about 30k (in 2015) so that got me thinking about the possibility on my CB1100.   Replacing the tensioner lifter can be done anytime per my research, but the internal components (tensioner) require at least the valve cover to be off and maybe even the cams.

I don’t recall anybody ever having a problem with the tensioner lifter or having problems with it.
