Interesting to see Honda is still selling the VT1300 here but not the CB1100. I have only ever seen one VT1300 in the last 8 years so i wouldn't consider it a big seller.

I am confused that the world's largest market (i.e. U.S.) would sometimes be "passed over". There is something else in play, political or otherwise. The larger models are still coming out of Japan, right?

Yes but the only place bikes are selling in any numbers is in the Asian countries and they are smaller bikes. Almost all the manufacturers are now building bikes for " world markets" which means smaller displacements, less horsepower, out sourced parts and builders.

Heck, the US didnt get the CB 1100 until 3 years after Ausralia and New Zealand. We had to beg to get it.

The CB 1100 is in this day and age a real exception, large displacement, designed and built in Japan. A true halo bike for Honda.

Funny how 55-60 years ago, it was the fledgling Japanese manufacturers who were trying to get a foothold in the U.S. market by exporting simple, inexpensive, low-displacement motorbikes. "You meet the nicest people." The quality of those "tinny Jap bikes" was questioned and scorned in the U.S. Of course, the rest is history. I wonder if we now unfairly consider inexpensive Thai, Chinese, and India-built bikes the same way. Isn't Royal Enfield the largest motorcycle producer in the world, thanks mostly to the number of bikes it sells in its home market?
