Do not waste your time and money , I never use the 6th gear on my 2014 and 2017 .

Interesting....I use 6th gear all the time on my 14, almost any time I'm over 55 mph.

5th here on the CB when in dense, but moving at posted limit on the freeway. Always nice to have a few options to get out of a crowded situation. I also find everything smoother in 5th compared to 6th.
Otherwise, relaxed in 6th (freeway).

I have read through this will lots of interest. Obsession in a certain bike is a problem I know all too well. I will see a bike and obsess about it. Sometimes it passes and sometimes I act.
When I first saw the 2014 CB1100 (black one) I wanted it bad but could not justify another bike at the original cost. With 6 to 7 bikes at the time and purchasing a house there was no way it would happen.
Fast forward to the winter of 2017 and I see a new one at a dealer for a price I could not turn down, $5,700 out the door. What a deal! I love the looks and have made upgrades to the bike that made it come alive. I love this bike. The all black with the alloy wheels is a perfectly compliment each other. To me they just got it right.
The other funny thing is since I bought it my job as a sailor has prevented me from riding it. I know I have less than 500 miles on it. But this year... I will be off most of the summer and a lot of time will be spent on this bike.
The moral of the story... sometimes it is good to fill your obsession. If you do you get to enjoy the one bike you really wanted the rest of your riding life! LOL!

You can compare your 5th gear rpms to my 6th gear rpms
55 in 6th. 2500 rpms
60 in 6th. 2750 rpms
65 in 6th. 3000 rpms
70 in 6th. 3250 rpms
75 in 6th. 3500 rpms
80 in 6th. 3750 rpms
This is a great bit of data. I will compare. Thanks for posting. The one that jumps out me is the 80 in 6th. 3750 rpms. I don't know yet what the Honda numbers are, but my BMW at 80 in 5th is turning 4200 RPM.

They're both sexy in their own ways, It all comes down to personal preference I guess. As it pertains to your situation, It would boil down to the cost(and hassle) of "swapping" and if there's anything you'd miss on the STD over the candy red that could make you regret that decision.
'13s/DLX/EX = more chromey and more "bells and whistles"
'14 STD = Subtle and sexy in black, with noticeably less chrome
I had the hardest time ridding my brain of the Freddie Spencer paint scheme from my '81 900F. But the black just sells itself and grows on you. In the 3 months(almost) of ownership I have with my STD. I can attest that there is a special and unique effect the lines on the smaller tank pop out with the black paint, It is so photogenic and sexy to look at. Not to say the Red CB11s aren't, but it's a more stealthy look if you can call it that.
As far as engine paint is concerned, I think I like the polished finish the most over black and silver. Does it warrant me swapping an entire engine/stripping and refinishing? No. Different strokes for different folks, some will go longer way$ to bring their envisioned CB11 to life than others, I think it all comes down to choosing the right slate that is closest and go from there, that way less $ and time will be spent in the process.
Either variant, rock solid, superb bike, I love mine more by the mile

Now you went and done it! I didn't really need to look at that picture right now. Great looking Standard.
Just when I thought I was out they pull me back in!
Extra points if you know the movie that line is from.

Oops, just humbly sharing my love for the ol' STD
Swapping for a black is always an option, but maybe not a relevant one if you're too busy putting miles and keeping busy on other toys..

Agreed. The USDM '13 did it for me, love at first sight status, I still remember where exactly I was when I laid eyes on it for the first time ever, and told myself I gotta own that bike.
