Wow I don't remember a Vetter Rooster at all. Don't think I ever sold one.

I remember those from back in the early 80s (after Vetter sold out). As I recall, they were handlebar mounted and not very attractive (sorry oldstingray).

You know, now that I think about it, an old Windjammer II would probably look pretty cool on a CB1100.

I had a Vetter Quicksilver on my old KZ400 and a Windjammer when I moved up to a KZ750. Sadly, there were no Vetters available when I moved on to my next bike, so i had to make do in the winter with a pair of those comically huge Hippo Hands. Did you sell any of those, Ferret? Big Grin

Oh yea..hippo hands were huge, but they were awesome. We sold lots of them.I wish I had a pair now.

There are items sold today called Hippo Hands, but they are not near as nice as the ones Vetter made. The Vetter had nice seams, and a real nice lining. Definitly quality stuff. Craig V etter was quite the innovator.
Btw here is an interesting website for Vetter fans

http://www.craigvetter.com/pages/vetter_..._made.html

You might have to copy and paste the addy as Im on an Ipad and sometimes links are wonky

I had a customer I knew from my 7-11 days that put a Rooster on his bike (don't recall the bike). He put in this radio unit he bought from Kohl's for cheap that sounded great!

He liked the whole combo but I have to agree with Flynrider; they were not the most attractive fairing out there.

Thanks for the link, Ferret. Lot's of interesting history on that site. I wasted a half hour looking up all of the Vetter products I used to own.

I found it pretty interesting that you could buy a complete Windjammer fairing in 1971 for $150. How times have changed. I'm pretty sure I paid more than that for my little NC plexiglass windshield.

Believe it or not some people couldn't get used to the fairing staying straight while the handlebars turned, hence they bought the Wixom and Bates.

I had a frame-mounted Wixom on my '75 CB750F. I'll try to find a picture of it. I bought it because Windjammers were so common.

A Windjammer and a 3ft tall back rest and a milk crate would totally completed the retro look for me Wink

Here are some pictures of the frame-mounted Wixom fairing on my CB750F. Since I was scanning pictures I thought I'd include a picture of the CB's replacement, the XS11.

The fairing reflected so much valve and cam chain noise on the 750 that I decided to go with low bars on the Eleven and no fairing [attachment=788] .

An old riding Bud back in PA had a Vetter Series 800 that was going to go on a Yamaha RD350 project bike. The bike met a sudden and bad end on night and the fairing went into storage. I know that is was still there as of about 6 or 7 years ago and I assume it still is.
