Higher Corbin Seat
#1

This is the higher version of the Corbin seat I received a couple of days ago. The seat height is about 1 inch higher and is softer due to more padding. I will not be able to give a ride report until after I try it on Monday or Tuesday.

Very interesting. Did you go with the higher Corbin because of your height or for some other reason? I'm considering getting a Corbin myself. I had one on my very first motorcycle and loved it. Definitely stiff but surprisingly, that stiffness translates into long range comfort. Especially after the leather breaks in just a bit. Have you ridden with the "normal" Corbin you have in your photo? If so, what did you think?

Houtman,

Is that what they normally do when you ask for a taller version? The seat seems flatter than the normal Corbin with much less of a pocket for your butt. Did you specifically ask for this profile or is that just the result of the added padding?

I'm looking forward to your ride review.

I have had Corbin seats on all my bikes for the last 25 years and love them.
Always ordered them in vinyl for less upkeep and better water proof.
For my 2013 I had the lower Corbin seat but it came with the little back flap for a back rest.
I did not like the looks of that and ordered a normal Corbin seat for my 2014 without the backrest flap.
It than came to my attention that Corbin will make a higher version of their seat for the CB 1100 .
After selling the 2013 seat to another Forum member I ordered the higher version, it is a special but for the same price.
Corbin has had some up and down pricing on these seats over the last year but for the higher one I paid $393 plus $40 shipping from CA to NC.
The only reason I did order the higher seat is that at 6 ft my legs are a little more cramped than I would like , I also put the Vario foot pegs on for more leg room.
At 64 comfort and safety is more of a concern to me than speed.
I will take the bike for a ride on the BRP on Monday or Tuesday and will give my opinion on this seat.
I did not ask for this profile, it is just the extra padding making the different shape.

John: I'm interested in this higher Corbin also. My legs are pretty sore after 1-2 hours & I sure don't want to cramp them any more but would really like a Corbin. Let us know if the seat-to-peg distance remains the same as the stock unit. Rocket

Hi Rocket, I will take some measurements tomorrow and the ride report as soon as I am back from the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway on Monday or Tuesday.

I took some measurements today on the different seats, measured with a 2014 DLX onto center stand.
My adjustable Vario pegs are all at 14" top to ground and the shift and brake pedal 12.25" top to ground.
The foot pegs can be lowered more but I like them a little above the shift and brake pedal.
Distance ,AGAIN on my bike is as follows:

Stock seat 22 " from top of foot rest to top of seat.

Normal Corbin seat also 22 " from top of foot rest to top of seat.

Higher Corbin seat is 24" from top of foot rest to top of seat.

On the standard Corbin seat you can slide back easily for some back support instead of sliding forwards like on the 2013 stock seat.
My legs are at less of an angle on the higher Corbin seat , probably will feel better over a long distance than the standard Corbin.
I am 6 feet with 32 inseam on normal pants and 34 on motorcycle pants, weight is 220.
Other measurements of different body parts are available by request only !
I will take the higher Corbin seat out for a ride tomorrow and will give my opinion .
The adjustable and high quality Vario pegs made a lot of difference to me and the "hard " Corbin seat did not bother me, more support in the long run.

Excellent info - thanks for the share.
I'd thought about this myself, so it's nice to hear some details on one. I got a higher vintage-style aftermarket seat, which I find very comfortable, but have had a hankering lately for something more modern/custom looking. We are exactly the same height and inseam, only I'm about 175 lbs., so the added softness due to the extra padding sounds good to me (I usually don't buy Corbin because they're so dang concrete-like on my skinny butt).

Today I took my 2014 CB 1100 DLX with the higher Corbin seat for a 80 mile ride on the BRP.

Observations : The higher version is MUCH softer than the standard one due to the extra padding and is very comfortable.
The harder stock Corbin seat did not bother me , but this one is nicer!
There is also more leg room between seat and top of pegs and makes a closer to 90 degree angle compared with the standard Corbin seat.

One but small negative is that on the deeper sculptured stock Corbin seat you have some support for your back when you slide backwards.

For 6 ft or taller riders or ones with a long inseam this higher version of the Corbin seat will make a big improvement , especially combined with adjustable foot pegs.
I first used the 30 mm extensions on my Vario pegs but later put the 23 mm ones on and they give me plenty of adjustments.

Making this bike more comfortable for me is a big part of a pleasurable riding experience and I feel that now the bike is 100 % to my liking instead of 95 %.

Can you take a photo of this tall Corbin installed? I'd like to see it from a side profile.

At 6'1", I need more leg room. My next purchase will be a taller saddle, but I was leaning to one from Samurider. This might do the trick and leave me a few bucks in the farkle budget. Thanks.
