I recently purchased a slip on Arrow. I have removed the baffle completly and actually like the noise level just fine. The question is two fold.

Can my computer adapt to the increased exhaust flow?

If I add K&N filters and free up the intake will it overwhelm the adaptive ability of the program and require an aftermarket program?

The "rule of thumb" is that you can normally do one thing or the other without needing a fuel manager or ECU reflash. That is: You can open up the exhaust or the intake, but not both, without necessarily hurting your bike and running too lean.

Of course, there are always exceptions to such rules...for example: Fully debaffling your Arrow might result in a flat spot during acceleration or a slight dip in your torque curve. In a case like that, you would likely benefit from adding a fuel manager such as the PCV (Power Commander 5)...you may not absolutely need the fuel manager, but you would notice improvements.

If you do both exhaust and intake work, especially the kind of intake work you described (since you wrote "K&N Filters", it is assumed you mean removing the air box and adding 4 separate filter pods), you will likely need, and would definitely benefit from a fuel manager or ECU reflash, or BOTH (as some CB1100 owners have done...I recommend that you do a forum search on "ECU Reflash" or "Power Commander" for additional information).

Intake work? are you going to pod filters? if all you are doing is replacing the stock air filter with a K&N i am confident you do not need to remap. The PCV does enrich the mixture for the stock lean running motor and you will notice a bit of improvement but for the minor modifications you are discussing i wouldn't think it necessary. The real restriction on the exhaust side seems to lye in the catalytic converter

I must admit I am still on the shallow end of the learning curve. When I worked on my Triumph my goal was to do as little as possible and just allow the engine to run with out the various environmental add ons. Free flowing exhaust, air box removal, K&N filters on intake and crankcase, removal of oxygen sensor, and removal of the hated triumph injectors into the combustion chamber.
WHEW much time and money to just allow the engine to run the way it was supposed to.
That is also my guide for the Honda. I hate the idea of losing the exhaust manifold, the 4 into one sweeping look is one of my favorite details. Definitely improve the intake as needed, although I am still learning what 'as needed' entails. O2 sensors will go away when I remap the ECU. Another learning curve as to what is available.
But to restate an old saying I do not want to make a sow's ear out of a silk purse. The Honda is plenty nice for me, I just want to free up the inhale/exhale and let the engine run.

I know what you mean about the Triumph. I had an 07 Bonnie Black, once I got the carbs jetted and an exhaust the clutch started slipping. Once I replaced the clutch springs with heavy duty ones it started breaking spokes in the rear wheel.

I replaced the stock air filter with K&N. Added the air funnel. Added arrow slip on w/ baffle removed and race collectors /headers. Power commander V. I think that's all I will be doing for my performance Mods. Possibly getting the ECU Reflashed to remove top end restrictor.

Anyways, My point ... I couldn't be happier the bike performs exactly like I want, and sounds great. Worth every penny in my opinion.

Ok air funnel Is.... I have a mental picture of the ridiculous air box I took off the Triumph. Do the funnels come of of the intakes upstream of the filters and then filters attach?

Air funnel, is a pretty simple device actually, I believe one member frabricated a similar solution out of some garage items. Basically all it does is eliminate the air box cover. So their is more flow, and allows the filter to stay in place while operating the motorcycle.

the other mod, i've read of is a pain in the ass to get done. "air funnel Kit" I'd suggest staying away from that unless you are very handy with the tools.

I get it. Can you keep the cover to maintain the stock look?
Also this may sound goofy but I really do love the sweep of the stock Honda manifold, is there a way to lose the cat converter without losing the manifold?

The stock fairing cover where the "CB 1100" logo is, goes right back on. The above photo shows it still off. Gold is the only color I have seen. Spray paint would be easy, not much of a point though, you can't see it.

You are loosing me with your cati / manifold questions. Maybe someone else will step in.
