LED'Ss and other Electrical Q's

Hey Everyone,

I'm finally getting ready to delete those protruding indicators but I have a few minor techincal questions for those more familiar with the bike than I am.

For starters: I am prepping to add fork wrap arounds like these:

I also have the tail delete from samurider.com (which i love) but i think i'm going to install this Rear Tailight:

I want to make sure these add's will work with my 2014 ex so i want to also add the proper connectors. Pretty sure the turn indicators are the 2 Pin HC .050 Turn Signal Connector (confirm?) that i can grab from cycleterminal.com.

Is a relay absolutely necessary or is the electrical system robust enough?

Also on this overhaul I'm planning on removing the stock headlight mount and replacing it with something a little more "practical" as our mounts are kinda rediculous. Any tips would be appreciated there as well.

Also feel to post any other LED questions here as maybe we can start an overall thread to (in my mind) a superior lighting upgrade.

I was curious about the tail delete so me and mr. google found this...I think it looks really nice on this bike!

The turn signals have 2 wires with 3.5mm male bullet connectors. I have a spare set of signals and just measured them with a digital micrometer to verify. Cycle Terminal is a good source for them. I got a mulitpin connector set and crimper from them to use on my CB as I do not like to splice into factory harnesses if at all possible. YMMV.

Admore supplies Posi Lock connectors which are supposed to be real good, but I have no experience with them.

Admore does not list a current draw or power consumption for the light you referenced, but the kit shows no relay. You should not need one. A number of members have changed to LED without any problems.

It IS a cool unit, computer programmable and all. I believe you are the first to reference the wrap around signals. I've never seen those.

cool, all sounds good in theory.

my only prob now is the admore light seems to only supply one wire for turn light function. if the connector harness is two pin where should my return be going/coming? will it matter?

i guess i'll find out tomorrow.

My guess is that your new light pulls its ground from the chassis when you bolt it on. Most stuff on our bike, from the factory gets grounds from ground wires run to them. The other end of the wires ends up at a chassis connection. So, for example, a turn signal has a ground connection and a 'hot' wire.

When you bolt up your new lights and they don't ground, you may have to connect it to the bike ground wire somehow. Since I do not know how much you know about about electricity/electronics don't get offended please, but all circuits need a ground and a source voltage.

The ground wires on the bike are green. You can verify with a DVOM.
