With the baffle it’s not much louder but definitely a “throatier” sound. Without the baffle it’s decidedly louder and sounds more aggressive.

If it is around town performance you are looking for you can't beat the effects of dropping a tooth on the front sprocket or adding a couple to the rear. Or both? Pretty simple alterations and biggest bang for the buck, IMHO.

Here's my experience. I installed a Staintune slip-on not too long after purchasing my CB1100 back in 2013. To this day the exhaust note remains one of my favorite aspects of riding this motorcycle. While a bit louder than stock, I certainly don't consider it to be loud and the tone it is definitely more throaty than stock. My opinion is that when it comes to exhaust modifications on these bikes actual performance gains are minimal unlike the perceived performance gains (due to the exhaust note). I'm okay with that as these bikes aren't considered high performance machines by today's standards but they're still capable of lifting the front wheel in the first couple of gears and plenty fast for me.

Good info there. The price of the stayintune is the crux. Anyone have any input on the delkevic full systems. They are being sold for 350-450 depending on the finish. The low price for a full is concerning considering the price of their slip ons. I do like the look of an exhaust that says close to stock. Most of the delkevics fall short there

Is the stock system stainless or chrome?

The CB is stainless. I too have a Delkevic (8"stubby) and love it. Very good quality and the price can't be beat. I keep looking at getting the full system but would like to hear some reviews first and no one seems to have pulled the trigger yet. But for a full system the price is on point. I just bought a Ram that is taking my coin right now but I think I'll have to get the headers next winter.

Yes, the price of admission for the Staintune is prohibitively high. As much as I enjoy the exhaust (enough that I’d buy another one if I had to do it all over again), I can’t make a really strong case for it to anyone else given the cost. What the Staintune does have going for it is unsurpassed quality of construction. It is a welded piece with no rivets to speak of that was clearly designed from scratch solely for the CB1100 and will last the lifetime of the bike never needing repacking. It looks right at home on the CB. (But to be fair you can’t see it while riding.)

I look at it this way: The only other accessories I’ve purchased are the OEM chrome gauge covers, rear rack (left off most of the time) and of course RLETs. All in all my overall expenditures aren’t all that out of line with many here so it’s all good.

Oops, I almost forgot the Type II handlebars and Japan-market seat. Oh well, still good , lol.

i'll give you my personal voucher for Delkevic. i LOVE LOVE LOVE my 8" round. it's simply the absolute lightest aftermarket muffler you can get, that isn't just a shorty turnout. as for the headers...i can't say. i'm going titanium instead.

And, if I've understood what I've read on the forum, even that will give you only a very modest performance boost.

everybody that's actually gone through with the whole mod seems to report the same thing: approximately 20% increase in RWHP. i guess it depends on whether or not you call that modest.

That does seem hard to believe for just an exhaust swap. I would have to go searching for the before and after dyno charts around here to see.

20%? That’s like 16hp - even the Tenere (a bike notorious for having emissions programming stifle potential) is barely seeing that - with a full header back replacement plus tune.

*shrug* only repeating results reported consistently by others. i'm about to go through all the same mods soon, so i'll find out first hand.

it isn't just an exhaust swap to be fair. De-snorkel with TSR air funnel, TSR velocity stacks, K&N filter, Cat-free exhaust with baffle free can, and a PCV with the pre-loaded TSR map. those are all the key ingredients that came with the results i'm quoting.
