Spools for pit stand.
#1

I decided to delete my center stand when I installed my new exhaust. It did come with an adapter bracket, but I never really liked the look of the center stand, and I don't really see the point of carrying the weight all the time for something that (at least me personally) I only use when in my garage. I decided to replace it with a pair of Vortex swingarm spools (m8 x 1.25) and a special adapter for my Pitbull rear stand (designed for the Norton Commando, but will work with basically any twin shock bike).

I definitely like it a lot better and I feel that it's much safer than having the clamps that just rest on the swingarm. The only caveat is that you will need an aftermarket exhaust can for this mod, as there definitely is no clearance between the stock and that shock bolt.

Forgive my ignorance, kmoney, but can you get the bike onto that stand on your own?

Yup. It's pretty easy. You put a block of wood under the side stand so that the bike sits closer to 90 degrees, straighten the front wheel (the bike rolls back a few inches when you raise it), slide the pit stand under the spools so they're just touching, and then just give it a light push down on the handle (I steady the bike with 2 hands from behind and use my foot on the handle) and it comes right up. Coming down is a bit harder, but you have enough leverage to not lose control.

Kmoney, can you give me the dimension between the two lift arms ? I can't use a normal stand with my Wyverns because the stand interferes with the lower exhausts.

I want a setup like this as I don't like my center stand, either, but don't want to lose the functionality.

Truth be told, I use my center stand mostly at the pump to get the max gas in the tank

How have these held up? I would like to do this since my center stand was negated when I changed mufflers.

I've never seen the spool replace the suspension bolt but I guess thats the only option we have.

Just buy the right spools and than figure the right and strong bolts to put them on , easy to do.

Yea I found these same Vortex spools on amazon.

So I could just grab like Grade 8 bolts myself so I know they're strong?

Depending on the type of spool YOU bought I used tapered bolts with alan type head so they are flush with the spool . I think that I bought them from Bolt Depot but not 100 % certain.
