Swapping tanks
#1

Anyone have a comprehensive thread on swapping a 2013-2014 tank to a 2017 tank? If so, parts list with part #s needed to do the job properly? Thanks.

It’s been done. I can’t remember a comprehensive thread, but chync has done it, http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=11505; jimbo has done it http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=16914.

You could contact either or both of them. The year of your bike might matter. The fuel pump was different on the 2013 model. See http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread....#pid233754

Thanks for the info...now to find the parts to do the swap. Unfortunately, I am still far short of the required #25 threads to put in a WTB ad.....

Look for the "View Today's Posts" link in the upper right hand part of the page and click on it. You will be surprised at how many things you can make a comment on. You will get there before you know it. I am sure many will see these posts and want to help, if they can, too. Good luck. Keep us posted.
Thumbs Up

I swapped a 2017 tank (purchased from forum member pekingduck) onto my 2014 std, and IIRC, all I needed was a different fuel cap. He may have swapped out the fuel pump, though. I went with a keyless fuel cap so I didn’t have to mess with a second key, or getting it keyed to match the ignition.

The 2017 cap uses a completely different style of key from earlier models, and there is no way of cutting keys to match or changing the locks. I have to carry two keys, unfortunately.

Replying to say, "Heard. Same boat." (And now this counts as one more!)

Cheers!
