Locksmiths use either Ilco X265 or HD109.
Do you know how we would go about ordering a key by code of theres no code on the factory keys?
Like how would they know to cut it for our specific ignition

For many years, there has been no publicly available source for Honda (and most Japanese manufacturers) key codes. The simple, hand-held key cutting machines have been replaced with electronic cutting machines that are way too expensive for motorcycle dealers to buy.
Around 10 years ago, there were only 3 or 4 Honda dealers who had bought the machines. So the key manufacturers/sellers stopped providing any conversions between the manufacturer's code and the machine.

So basically the lock Smith does it buy eye/in person with the original key is what you're saying?

They use a tracing or duplicating machine.
Yamaha does not provide keys directly, instead directing their dealer to make inquiries to:

They cut keys by code. I have spoken with them, and they can cut the new 2017 CB1100EX "wave-cut" keys.
Price is currently $45, a bargain if you've done the unthinkable.
