I managed to go for a long ride on Saturday and my mood has moved back closer to baseline!
Being cooped up in the garage with salt and snow on the roads makes me grumpy!
I rode to the new Indian motorcycle dealership about 80 miles away from my home. Everyone from the sales staff, to the service manager and the general manager/owner were very friendly and welcoming. The shop has a high end boutique feel to it with lots of hardwood, leather furniture, and framed artwork displaying Indian's history.
I'm not in the market for a new bike, but I have certainly been in lust with Indians for many years. It's somewhere I would stop by after winning the lottery to pick up a new Chief Vintage and a new Scout to park in the stable! The new Scout is really gorgeous, it has 100 horsepower, the reviews have been very positive, all for $11,000.
I was very happy to get some saddle time on my CB!

Those bike are so wonderfully .... American. Glad you got out EGA. Lifts the spirits, doesn't it?

Indian is killing it these days. They definetely seem to be making the kind of American bikes people have wished for seemingly forever.

Pamela and I test rode the Scout over a year ago. Nice bike I think, handles nice, strong smooth motor. Sore point for me is the miserable feet forward riding position and very limited rear suspension travel. Appeared to be well made and is a far better bike than a Sportster IMO.

I like the looks of cruisers but have read about heat problems with ones leg sitting beside the motor. Its why I have a standard with my feet and leg behind the motor.

Yes, very much so...riding, or not riding, literally changes me, I can feel it and so can those around me. I cannot imagine life without riding.

Indian is due to release a new model in a couple of weeks at Daytona. The rumor mill says that it's a very sporty Scout with a much more standard riding position. Not that this rumor means anything as other rumors have stated that it's a mini-touring Scout bagger...Who knows? A 120 hp Scout with a CB riding position would be cool but both attempts by Harley (Street Rod) and Victory (Hammer) were essentially sales flops.

Local Indian dealer is also a Victory and Slingshot dealer. Good looking showroom and nice jackets. Sales are steady which is great.
Had an electric motorcycle on the floor, $20k. Intriguing concept and personally I'm looking forwards to their continued refinement.

Very true but having looked at both these past offerings, they were poorly done IMO. The Victory Judge borrowed the riding position of Harley's V rod, the hunched over "flying C" with a too low seat and controls out front. Even at my short stature, impossible to be comfortable on and really little different than any other power cruiser. The Street Rod had the controls in the right place but a poorly designed seat that made you feel like you were astride an elevated board. As though Harley's designers were completely uninterested in the project and hurried through so to throw the heretics a chunk of meat.
I feel that neither Harley nor Victory have made a serious effort at building a standard and their results so far prove their lack of interest.
