7284 miles. Stupid low for a big tourer that is 37 years old. Any big flaws known in this iteration to look out for?

the bike looks nice.. I always preferred the interstate to the aspencade models.. I wonder how long the bike has been sitting since the carb rebuild.. those carbs don't like to just sit around with todays gas.. I would remove some of that extra chrome.. those side covers trap hot air back by the stator.. that rear chrome bumper thingy just adds weight.. the 1983's had some parts that were for that year only.. limiting availability of replacement stuff.. try to lighten it up to make it as agile as you can.. keeping the bags and trunk, of course.. hard to see any scratches in pics.. ask the seller .. sometimes a little dab of clear-coat will hide them.. it reminds me of a nice 1982 I had..

I've been in contact with seller, they are young so I'm assuming dad's bike? Waiting on a phone call for the particulars. I am going to see it tomorrow.

I'm thinking it sat for a loooong time then they took to Honda to get carbs right and to freshen it up hence the radiator flush and new filter. I don't know, I'll have to ask.

I will definitely take off a bunch of the window dressing to lighten her up. But overall from pictures (they offered to send more via text) it looks pretty clean and that mileage is ridiculous. If I can get it for $2600 and it's in good shape with no hidden problems I'm pretty sure I can get a few years use out of it and not lose anything if I sell it. We'll see.
Just talked to her. It is her dad's, he has failing health and it's too big. Serviced (carbs and such) and new rear tire in last 6 months. It's been driven sparsely over those months. She said it cranked right up yesterday.

Bike looks great, I had 3 83 standards between 2005 and 2010. They are great bikes.
Be sure to check out the fuse link on the left side under the seat rail. When it blows it shuts down the electrical system, I learned the hard way to always keep a spare with me.

$2600? For that price you can ride it till something breaks and part it out on Ebay.

Although I wouldn't advise someone to go back to mulit-cyl carbs again (dirtbike is a diff story)...if they were just gone over and you don't let it sit for more than say 2 months without at least a quick ride... that bike looks great if that is your style.

Oh.. and the most important thing of all is the well known corrosion of the 3 prong plastic connector / 3 wires for the alternator charging system behind the left side cover just in front of the battery. The connectors/casing may be partially melted causing long term alternator failure .. Once you verify that the charging system is good at load, the simple fix is to eliminate the connector and solder the wires directly and shrink wrap them

Sorry I had a pretty good write up and advise for you that I accidentally deleted.

To summarize, if the carbs and other things have been worked in recently , all you probably have to do is verify the timing belt and replace it due to age as its an interference engine. The valve check and adjustment is very easy. Just take your time and the 1100 wings are fantastic bikes. Here’s my 82 standard with original Vetter fairing running like new at 65K miles.
