While at it, additionally: BMW, Volkswagon, Mercedes, Audi, etc. etc.

The difference may be that the very large German-American population was treated differently from the interned Japanese-Americans. O course, I knew (or know) many Jews who would never buy a German product around the same time.

I remember a National Lampoon piece in the '70s about what makes countries mad, and what they do to get even. For Germany and Japan, it was something like:[ul] [li]What makes them mad? Defeating them in a world war[/li] [li]What they do to get even: Destroy your economy
[/li][/ul]
It was tongue in cheek, but in satire and humor there's always a grain of truth. Germany and Japan became economic powerhouses after the war, with new capital infrastructure and a very powerful drive to overcome the devastation and return themselves and their countries to prosperity and success. Meanwhile, the US was wasting blood and treasure in Vietnam and fighting with ourselves...some things never change...

I can’t remember where—maybe somewhere on this forum—but I read today that Honda’s electrification is only cars. Curious because I read somewhere else this week that Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Suzuki have agreed on the specs for a standard battery.

Keeping the motive simple, and if I am not mistaken, the U.S. was a significant contributor on helping getting [at least] Japan back on their feet. Even today, not sure how many other countries contribute to helping rebuild, at least initially, war torn countries.
Nevertheless, long live the CB1100.

Yeah, for quite some time now Honda has been accused of lacking innovation and only making incremental improvements to help sustain product margin. In the meantime the competition has moved on. For decades Honda has been investing in their "robot tech". Maybe suddenly one day every household will have a Honda robot doing the chores - just don't make them human-looking and dressing 'em up (or down). 
The CB1100 is a modern reminder of Honda past.

From the tone of this thread it sounds like Honda is, or rather has, become a Japanese version of Harley Davidson.
