My wife and I celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary in Paris in May, and of course I could not help but notice how many motorcycles are in use by everyday commuters. The main clue was they are parked on virtually every inch of available space on sidewalks, alleyways, and doubled up in parking spaces on every street. Sorry I did not see a single CB11.
You see, no matter how much income you have in Paris, you cannot continue to make it if you can't get to work. So you see clerks driving Vespas, and company presidents, fashion models, lawyers and of course the Police all driving BMW R1200Rs. The motorcycle dealers are lined up in a row along the street, and you can shop seven brands walking from door to door.
There are no parking meters, "lane sharing" is perfectly legal, and we did not see a single accident. Oh, did I mention I saw Joan of Arc? Yes, 5'11", silver skin tight leathers, calf-high high-heeled black boots, gauntlet gloves, full face silver helmet, blond hair down to mid back. Of course her ride was silver BMW R12. Sorry no video of that one, I was too dumb struck to catch it, honest.
