HELP - URGENT! Electrical Question?
#1
Hi All,

I'm just fitting a pair of White House K10 Indicators (Turn Signals) to my bike and I've just blown a fuse when I re-connected them.

Does any one have a manual that they could check a connection for me?

Under the Storage compartment there are three connectors for the rear lights.

White - Rear Lamp
Orange - LH Ind.
Blue - RH Ind.

When I re-checked everything, it looks like the Orange Wire going into the Orange Connector switches colour and pairs up to the Green! And obviously then the Green pairs up to Orange.
That's odd, isn't it?
The connector is of the sort that will only fit one way.

If anyone has a manual or a wiring diagram could they check to see if the rear turn signals change there colour coding along the path.

I need the bike tomorrow morn and I'm a bit desperate. One more spare fuse and thats it!

Any help would be massively appreciated.

Thanks
Kevin

On my 2014 I found it reversed. I think I wrote this up in a post on installing the Skene Design lights. Get out the volt meter and check. That is how I figured it out as did not match shop wiring diagram

Copied from the UK Forum....

Thanks for that fellas. Ridem thats great. I know that it would be un-usual for the wires to switch colour.. but it looks like they do on my bike.
I striped the new indicators from White House to check that they weren't shorting somewhere and checked all the cabling. No shorts and all good.
So, I took a risk and switched the polarity of the tails I'd made to the new indicators. The White House Indicators come with short tails and bullet connectors, not hard wired, long tails with the Honda connector on, like the stock indicators.
I had to chop the long tails off the original indicators and fit some in-line connectors, to use with the WH Ind.
That meant I could just switch the Polarity around at that end.
They worked.
Which means, as far as I can work out. My 2014EX was wired incorrectly at the factory.
I went back to the original indicators and stripped them. They are wired correctly. Green - Ground and Orange - Live and Blue - Live.
That makes me think the loom is wired wrong and they flipped the colours in the connector under the seat to make the Ind. work.

That seems very odd to me and I'm going to go back and check it now. I left it late last night and I'm just having a cup of tea and a think about it.

Worth having a check on a few other machines tho.

I'll report back after another look this morn.
Electrics is not my forte, so if I'm being a dunce, please feel free to correct me. I may be missing something....

The wiring colors might be funky, but incandescent signal bulbs technically can be wired either way.... the importance of polarity would only come into effect when you wire in LEDs. Something the factory wouldn't be thinking about. That said, sounds like maybe the wiring department was having a rough morning following an all weekend Sake bender! Tongue Frustrating to work on something when logic is out the window. Glad you got working.

voltmeters are pretty cheap - you can buy one for $10.00. They will save you all the "stripping"

Incandescent bulbs light with either polarity so wires can be reversed. Stick in the voltmeter red + lead and ground the black lead. Find the wire with the plus 12V and you are in business.
