Cormanus, Pterodactl,

You guys have a lot of Kilometers( that's a weird unit of distance that the whole world uses but us-lol) on your bikes. Have you had to adjust the balancer because of balancer noise?

No, I haven't had to adjust it because of balancer noise. But maybe that's because I check it at major service intervals (8000 of those miles of yours). I've never had to move it very far from the initial setting. It only takes a few minutes to do, so if you think any of the "phantom" noises that the CB is prone to may be attributable to the balancer adjustment, it might help and can certainly do no harm. After the initial adjustment, made while the engine is cold, I then have the pleasure of taking a short ride to warm it up for the final check.

As an aside, and in no way designed to derail the thread*, feet and miles (mainly nautical, but sometimes statute) are still used throughout the greater part of the aviation world. The exception to this is China and some former Eastern block countries. Since I've been out of the business I believe Russia has changed its metric Flight Levels to align with the Western system to avoid climbs and descents on entering or leaving the airspace as is required by those aforementioned countries. Safer if all use the same system, but still yet to happen.

Cheers

I've never (knowingly) adjusted men, but then I'm a mechanical klutz limited to simple things like changing the oil or putting air in the tyres. My bike goes to the dealer for major servicing and I hope the balancer has been adjusted if necessary.

It's lucky for you, Pterodactyl, that Guth has not yet flipped the necessary switches for me to be able to offer a moderator's response to your impertinence. Big Grin

I have the exact sound that the video kDiqq shared. It started at 600 miles with my first oil change. Went back to 10-30 (new oil and filter) and noise is still there. My motor was a swiss watch until 600 miles. Now has this rattle off and on every time I ride. Plus, I have new vibrations at certain RPMs. The dealer had my bike this winter and could not solve it.

Cormanus,

What happened to your purple name? It was cool Smile. Edit to add: OK, I read the reason in another post you made. I still like the purple though...

Spakins, Like Pterodactl said, try the adjustment, won't hurt.

There have been sporadic reports of your complaint, but no definitive answer. I think American Honda said it's normal. That most likely means they don't know either.
