need help quick - oil leaking

I totally agree wth the dealer. Seen it before, which is why I suggested that could be the cause back in post #2 of this thread.

After one month I did see the same spots again.
Now I am waiting and its been about a month, dunno for sure, forgot, but nothing so far.
And I switched to Motul chain paste, comes with a brush, very handy and clean way to apply.


At that time I used S100 chain spray to lube the chain.
Its a spray, not the thick stuff like Motul.

Dealers theory was that's an area that gets really hot and there is indeed a lot of piled up chain grease or durt as you see on the picture.
I did always use a lot of the spray stuff...

So the hot metal causes it to melt...wich explains the grease trail, according to him.
Dunno...

I just wanted to remind the OP, what I'd remarked about this concern was:

"If you JUST had the bike serviced and this is a new development, it is not chain lube. The bike was overfilled."

One thing I never did figure out was if the OP had ever noticed this condition prior to the oil change.

At any rate, if you overlube the chain you'll get that. I stopped using those thinner lubes about 20 years ago. Maxima Chain Wax was the first "wax" type lube I can recall but most all the good ones are like a wax now, they don't fling off and you don't need to hose it down.

However, did you inspect the airbox drain to see if any oil had accumulated in it? If any oil turns up there, the bike was overfilled. The little plastic plug is not oil-tight, the oil will drip out, and it ends up -- guess where -- in the same place, the left side of the bike.

When you own a bike it pays to learn how to really sleuth this stuff out; grab a flashlight and take a look around. Oil is slippery stuff, it tends to migrate.

The wooden board under the bike was always oil/liquid free
