This would be a good example of battery failure, it is certainly the first thing to look at.
If you could take out the compartment under the seat and test the battery before removing it that would be best.

It is not likely to be an electrical fault since the system worked for a short time but still worth checking if the battery cables are not loose.

Do you have access to a battery charger or a way to connect jumper cables?
No need have to start the bike, just check if the battery was the problem.

Let us know how you get on;

Some other things to check if battery checks good.
Set kill switch to off and back on, even a slight brush against this switch may cause a need to reset.
Turn ignition switch on and off several times. The contacts on this switch can get dirty.

Had both these problems occur on my CB.

Was anybody into the wiring? You never mentioned the main fuse blowing bedore. That would indicate an electrical problem/direct short somewhere. Were the handle bars replaced? Turn signals? Tail light? Fender eliminator put on?

I had my fuse blow out of the blue. I found a spare from Honda in the fuse block and swapped it. That one blew also. Once I switched to fuses I picked up at an auto parts store it never blew again. I made sure I used the same amp rating. It left me questioning the quality of the factory fuses.

Just screw the blown fuse out and put a penny coin in the socket and you are good to go! Huh
