For those of you wanting to defeat the speed limiter...

In this post, Motogeezer describes getting into the mid 130s. It's tough to measure on a '14 or later model, since their speedos only go to 120.

Where do you guys find the open highway to run over 100 mph? I will confess to having done that a few times myself, but not often enough where I'd worry about being able to modify the mapping so that my CB1100 wouldn't bog down at 100+ mph.

Me and my Moto Guzzi 1200 Sport did put on a few + miles in excess of the 'ton' in WY several years ago, and this old gal did so without an issue, even with panniers, tank bag, and a few pieces of camping gear strapped to the rear rack.

Perhaps most of you who want to eliminate the top speed restriction are track day riders?

In Montana, there is a 40+ mile stretch between Plains and Flathead Lake, Hwy 28, which is prime for stretching the legs of your ride of choice.

Not really, Flynrider. ;-)

A GPS like my Garmin Montana is much more accurate than my speedo. Especially on my ST1300. That bike has a wacky out-of-touch speedo.

Just to let you know that all automotive & motorcycle speedo always show more by 5-10%(estimated) than actually driven.
One of the reason is that you cannot sue manufacturer for speeding = your speedo was showing less and you got caughtSad
In Ohio, "you are mine over nine" = watch outExclamation
In Ontario, if you are caught driving 50 kilometers per hour over the posted limit your car will be impounded + big fine$ upto C$10000 + court..no kiddingAngry
GPS seems to be more accurate.

Also in Ohio.. If you are caught doing 20+ over the speed limit you can get a reckless op ticket and rather large fine and points. They may just give you a ticket but if you are a jerk to the LEO he can make your life miserable with a reckless op ticket.

Btw the highest speeding ticket in Ohio last year was a Honda motorcycle going speed limit plus 70 mph. Yes, his bike was confiscated and he was taken directly to jail.
