Question about 2013 CB1100
#11

New to the forum.

I am considering getting a CB1100. Thinking about getting a new one, Standard Black 2014.

But I also see many 2013 slightly used for sale.

Wanted to reach to you guys to find out if there are any issues with 2013's?

Also, is there a big difference between having a 5 speed vs 6 speed since the 2013 would be a 5 speed?

Any other information that you would like to provide in addition would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to all in advance.

Jay

Welcome Sanjay! The 5 vs. 6 speed question was recently the subject of a thread on this forum :

Thanks to all for your recommendations.

There are two CB's in my area. One is 2013 standard Red for $7999 and a 2014 Standard for $8699.

I am leaning dor the 14 because its Black......I think the Black just looks meaner.

But I cant buy for at least a momth...lets see if they are still around..hope so

For $700 diff it would be a no brainer for me, unless I just loved the red, the updated 14 with revised instrumentation and 6 speed trans would be worth the little extra jingle.

Put a deposit on whichever one you decide on. Enjoy either way Smile

It's only a $700 difference because the '13 STD is overpriced on the asking price. We've seen 2013s in the 6K-7K range already.

ClassicVW, is that price range for real? I admit to being unaware of how much bargaining room there may be on a 2013 (i.e. 2 model years old) as compared with the "asking" price. Does the dealer get a rebate from Honda on these older models (separate from the current $1000 Honda Powersports rebate to the customer)? I might think a cold winter area might be more willing to discount this time of year, but as Southern CA is good riding year-round, would dealers there be less inclined to part with the bike for $7K? I'm told to just make an offer, and they can take it or leave it, but I'd prefer to know more about the dealer/manufacturer angle.

While there is absolutely nothing wrong with a used bike (all but 2 of my 25+ bikes over the years have been used), if you can get a brand new one for a good price I would say to pay the extra for new if it is available. You may possibly never have a chance again to buy a brand new one in this country.

The CB is in fact one of the only 2 new bikes in my life-I knew this was gonna be a keeper til the end and I wanted a complete virgin! Celebrate

Hi Sanjay. I've also been looking for a '13 or '14 and finally found a brand new '13 with ABS a few hundred miles from me. The dealer and I agreed on $6959 after $1000 in Honda Bonus Bucks were applied so I put a deposit down and will be picking the bike up this weekend. There are still some deals out there! Good luck!

Congrats Nine! Those '13s with ABS were scarce!
