Question about 2013 CB1100 - Sanjay73_imp - 09-14-2015
Hello All
New to the forum.
I am considering getting a CB1100. Thinking about getting a new one, Standard Black 2014.
But I also see many 2013 slightly used for sale.
Wanted to reach to you guys to find out if there are any issues with 2013's?
Also, is there a big difference between having a 5 speed vs 6 speed since the 2013 would be a 5 speed?
Any other information that you would like to provide in addition would be greatly appreciated.

There are so many threads on this forum that cover all your questions, so I'd first advise some searching on your part.
That said, I can say that the 2013 doesn't seem to have an "problems" that were fixed in the 2014 model. The 6 speed transmission is a nice difference for some. I have the 2013 and have no trouble riding all day at 80 MPH.
Anyhow, review the various threads and see what everyone else says.

The 2013 is a great machine (I love mine), as are ANY of the CB models. Find a good deal on one you like and don't look back!

Real question to me would be which color and what price are you happy with?
Seen plenty of almost new at a fantastic price (buyers remorse?) that I really hesitate to buy new.

I found myself trying to make the same decision about a month ago. New or used? 2013 or 2014? I found a new 2014 std. at a pretty good price. At first, I really wanted the black bike. I ended up buying a used 2013 at a great price, and I'm glad I did. I saved $2400 by going with the used bike, which made the wife happy too.

No issues at all with either year.
2013 was the first year Honda offered it in the U.S. so I believe some people just gotta have something that's the newest, ride it for a few hundred miles, then sell it or trade it in on the next newest shiniest "gotta have it now" bike.
I bought a gently used 2013 (500 something miles on it) and saved probably $3,000. Lots of nice used ones out there, don't worry about if it's a 2013 or 2014, buy what you want to own.

I love my 2013 red standard. Bought it with only 750 miles for $7000. Have no problems with the 5 speed, and the non-abs brakes work great!

I've had my 2013 for 24 months now and it's a great bike. 27,500 mi. since new and zero probs. In my opinion the 6th gear is not needed as I can cruise all day at 80 mph. '13s can be had with few miles for 2/3 what I paid for mine.
Since no more CB1100s will be imported to the US, stateside riders may want to consider getting their checkbooks out while there are still some available at great prices.

I'm sure that if I owned a 2013 model, I'd be completely satisfied with the 5 gears. But, having the 2014 Standard, I'm happy I have the 6th, which I use often. I read somewhere recently that the difference is only a drop of around 500 RPM; definitely not a deal breaker. There are other differences between the models that the ferret spelled out in great detail. It's definitely worth a search.
