The service manual does not call for sealant on the gasket. Only Three-Bond or equivalent at the “semi-circular cutouts as shown”.
It say to inspect the cylinder head cover packing for wear or damage, replace as necessary.
If it was me I’d replace the seal and torque to specs: “install and tighten the cylinder head cover bolts in a crisscross pattern in two or three steps to the specifed torque. 10Nm or 7 foot lbs.
