my CB1100 had not been run much lately, so I took her out for a spin last Friday and end up with a leaky head cover again. So during the weekend I took her apart again to fix the leaky head and do another valve clearance check (only 6000km since last check), and surprised with quite a huge different in clearance compare 6000km ago.... Few things would like you guy's opinion:
1) Does bike's cylinder cover rubber seal last longer if it is ridden regularly, like everyday, compare to weekend/ once a month ride??
2) Is our CB1100 cylinder head cover more prone to oil leak because being an air cool engine? hence the short 12000km valve clearance check? Or should I just put more messy RTV??
3) Most intake valve's clearance had increase with just this 6000km usage, but most exhaust valves stay the same.. Possible carbon built up??
4) 1 intake valve is out, at a slightly tight drag on 0.008inch (0.2mm) feeler, . But no noisy valve sound... Should I just leave it?
5) Talking about carbon built-up, a friend recommended me to do a carbon clean up (workshop pour something into fuel tank and rev out lots of white smoke) before shimming because according to his experience, all his valves become too tight after he did a carbon cleanup. So is this carbon clean up really cleaning out the carbon deposit? or corroding the valve seat??
6) Does CB1100 shims same with Kawasaki ninja 250 7.48mm shims? I had a set of ninja 250 7.48mm shims I used in my ninja 650. But not sure if it is compatible with CB1100.
Thats about all from me being indecisive "problematic" rider..
