Absolutely not. Rear is not as strong as in front, but I can easily slow her down from 50 mph to a stop, just using the rear. No need to step on it hard, no sluggishness, no delays.
If my front brake lever broke on a trip, I would still feel safe and ride home with just the rear.
I hope this helps ... get it fixed, or fix it. You want this brake to work.
PS: mine is ABS, but as long as it isn’t triggered, that can not make any difference.
