Bikes, boats, cars always buy used, sometimes I get lucky, it runs great for as long as I want to keep it, sometimes I run into all the stupid and short-sighted hacks the PO did to it. I could write a book. Even houses. This house in TX was owned by a guy who thought he was clever, but one by one, his "clever" fixes and installations have broken down, came undone, exploded, or wore out because they were all done with cheap materials, shoddy work, and lack of knowledge. I've spent about $10K fixing the plumbing, the fireplace, the floors, the electrics, everything this moron touched. I had a home inspection done, but most of the crappy stuff was out of sight Live and learn.
