Reading this whole thread one more time, I come to the conclusion that most of what's been said on both sides is correct and indeed without (much) contradiction. In the beginning I had understood the PowerDubs is really meaning what he wrote : "I am a HUGE proponent of full throttle through full RPM fairly often". I read this (like others) as "run it at full throttle" and "keep running it at full throttle" . My answer and other answers do clearly discourage that, regardless of whether Honda did a good job, and whether the rest of your m/c goes first, or whether the engine takes its last breath while you own her.
But PowerDubs explained that this is not what he meant. And if his "full throttle"statement means rev it up more than once a year or once a month, this turns into quite a different story. I do fully agree that babying your engine ALL THE TIME won't do any good either, and that high flows, including high fuel burn and higher temps for a while are important. Just think that the same benefits might be achieved by running her at 4000 rpm/s for 10 or 15 minutes once in a while.
But there are always different ways to skin a cat. Choose your own formula of time x rpms.
