Dear all,
This is my first thread so I would like to say hello to you all Smile
I have just bought the cb1100a and have a question if I may. Could you tell me at what rev range do you change gears. I tend to ride between 2000 and 3000/3500rpm. Isn't that to low? Is it ok for the engine? It rides smoothly from 2000rpm easily, even lower.
Welcome to the forum, Tomek. I’d have thought 2000 RPM is the minimum, but the range you describe is reasonable.

The oracle has spoken.
Any engine can be used at a point as low as that it is not bogging / lugging / chugging- up to the rev limiter. It is all personal preference.

These bikes run very well at low RPM- no worries.

Yea- other than the fact that I am a HUGE proponent of full throttle through full RPM fairly often on ANY bike / car.

Italian tune up is real- heat and full fuel injector opening and spray pattern cleans the injectors themselves, the ports, the valves, the piston crowns, and even out to the cat substrate core. Increased combustion pressures keep rings from getting gunked up and sticking.

While this is all true, it does also less nice things to your engine: heats the exhaust valves and valve seats more than necessary, (ab)uses your chain, sprocket and tires, makes your neighbors appreciate you live nearby, and the paramedics if you picked a not so ideal spot for the exercise. Anyway, my guess, Tomek was more interested in the lower end of the rpm range.

Your response is nothing more than incorrect falsehoods. Posts like that do more harm than good. No point- so don’t do it.
