On my 2014, I also lopped a couple threads off the brake push rod with a cutoff wheel. But if I were to do it again, I'd grind the brake pedal, because it's an area that just isn't necessary ever.
If the next owner of the bike wanted to raise the brake pedal back up, or even a bit higher, he might run out of thread, which has safety implications. Grinding the brake pedal would have no effect whether the pedal is high or low.
