Why some bikes are affected is still a mystery, at least to me.
I did check fasteners and some electrical connections when I took delivery (habits from riding H-D).
I have over 10,700 miles since last November, ride in temps up to 114 F (10W/40 Castrol pure synthetic) , with long idles at signals in Las Vegas, 87 octane regular fuel (88 in Utah), spark plugs look new and zero issues, thus far.
I generally ride some distance, each time I start it and frequently at higher speeds, even if over 75 MPH are short bursts. Also, I frequently ride from ~2200 feet elevation to over 8,500 feet elevation (almost weekly).
The Engine Oil Temperature sensor resistance is 2.4 to 2.9 K ohms at 68F.
Higher resistance indicates a colder temperature.
If the connector / wiring has high resistance (such as from corrosion, which is why I asked about rain, or loose connection) the EOT output to the ECM will indicate that the engine oil is colder than actual.
Easy to disconnect, check and reconnect.
I'll check on this thread through tomorrow (Wed) but will be off-line Thu-Sat.
Max would be a good source for related testing, along with Peter Baron and Popgun, comprising the team that assisted Dave with his IACV issue.
