Not all low idle issues may be the IACV.
High idle may not have the same cause(s) as low idle.
For example, it may idle high if the ECM thinks the temperature is colder than it actually is.
Be good to first check electrical connections.
How many miles?
Ridden much in the rain?
Parked in rain?
See DTC info on FSM pages 5-15 & 5-16.
As for riding/parking in the rain, I'd be surprised if that's the cause since the bike hasn't been out in anything more than a light sprinkle for at least a year. This idle issue appeared in only the last month or so.
One thing I noticed on my ride this morning, sitting in traffic, is that the warmer the engine seems to get, the higher the idle climbs. After a particularly long stretch of morning-commute traffic and stoplights, it had climbed up to ~1700 RPMs. This now has me legitimately concerned that something more serious is going on. At this RPM, you can actually feel the bike pulling in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears with no throttle. It's not a good feeling.
A curious thing, to me, that may or may not point to a solution...
With the engine running warm and idling high, I unplugged what I assume is the TP sensor (left side on the end of the throttle body). The idle immediately dropped down to a more appropriate RPM (~1,100) and it threw a MIL.
I have the appropriate 2-6mm of play in the throttle handle. Not sure what else to check.
Thoughts?
Also... I will definitely be checking electrical connections and your suggested FSM sections when I get home tonight.
