When I bought my 13, I felt as though it could use a couple of improvements to make it the right bike for me. Maybe a 6th gear,(I was always flippn up the gearshift thinking I had one more gear) and a gear indicator would be nice, a duel exhaust would look good, silver motor and rims would be a plus. Then the 14 came out and I had thought they read my mind! So I got the 14 DLX. I still have both.
At Highway speeds they handle the same. I enjoy riding both, but I prefer th DLX mostly because of of the 6th gear. It just feels right. My son likes the 13 better because he says it has a quicker throttle response. I don't think it's the motor as much as the gear ratio difference.
As far as the wallet thing, I'm glad I got the 14, and would have traded in the 13 but my son (22)said that now we can ride together and plan some trips. How can you say no to that. So I kept it.
The Rolling Stones said it all with "you can't always get what you want, but you get what you need"
I just happened to get both with the 14, that's all.
