Please don't consider your purchase of a motorcycle as an "investment." For many, it's a major purchase, but it's an expense, not an investment. An extended warranty could best be described as prepaid maintenance that may or may not be needed in the future.
I paid about $600 for an extended aftermarket warranty for my K1200RS as the manufacturer's 3-year warranty was ready to expire. The bike had been trouble-free up to that point. Once my servicing dealer caught wind of my extended warranty, all sorts of components allegedly began to fail and needed replacement. How convenient for them!
