Warranty Work
#1
I had to take my bike in to have an oil leak looked at. It has always leaked at a bolt in the casing under the engine hanger bolt, not a drip but more of a sweat. I had cleaned it several times and sure enough it always was present after a good ride.
Unfortunately the dealer that I took my bike to said it will take a couple weeks for Honda to approve or deny the fix.
Anyone has any experience with Honda Warranty work that was approved or denied and time frames?

Thanks in advance

For an oil drip make sure you take the bike home after they look at it. I left my bike at the dealer looking into a vibration issue and they kept it for a week and I found out it literally didn't move it for a full week. I could have been riding it while they waited to hear back from honda

Darn, it's and hour and 45 min cruise but I guess I should go get it until they are ready to do something.
I definitely could get some riding in during this good weather we are having.

Did you try simply tightening that bolt?

Weeps, seeps, and leaks...

A weep is where fluid will collect at a location but not form a droplet.

A seep is where the fluid will collect, form a droplet but the droplet will not drop.

A leak is where a fluid will form a droplet, and the droplet drops due to gravity.

The manufacturer may claim that without a leak, there is no issue.

Let us know how it works out.

Hi, Yes I torqued the bolt and it was tight. I cleaned and looked very closely and could see that the area that they grind or drill flush for the washer to seat looked like they missed some, the very same bolt on the other side had a nice flat polished area where the washer contacted and the bolt that is leaking looks like it wasn't ground out completely.

I showed it to the dealer and pointed out the area which is clearly visible once you know where to look.
I was disappointed when they called today and said they fixed it by applying high heat silicone to the washer.
I had envisioned them filing or maybe using a dremel to get the area flat to correct the problem.

Had corroded case replacement denied by warranty rep, dealer replaced it on their own. Got 2 fork seals, one fork leg and a set of front brake rotors replaced under warranty. Reps travel, so it depends on their schedule.

75,600 drops = 1 gallon
