Honda Care Extended Warranty LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE!

I have a full Yosh on the CB and it doesn't affect the warranty. As a matter of fact, the service department loved the look and the sound.
It can be fun to get in the face of pushy closers - car salespeople are the best - when they're trying to upsell you. if you're lucky enough to have had sales training, or know someone who has, that you can take with you, you'd be surprised what you can do.

I'm not directing this out at you, I just saw that you bought your bike "modified" off the showroom floor and figured I would shed some light from my experience, so please don't take this personally because it's not intended to be.

2 years ago I purchased a brand new single cab short bed Silverado, and had a reputable dealer install a Magnuson supercharger (with conservative dyno tune), long tube headers, lowering kit, and some other goodies. I had approximately $8500 worth of accessories on this truck, and the reason being is the owner of the dealership claimed they would honor the 5yr/100k mile GM warranty.

I drove the truck pretty hard for the first 5k miles... track passes, 4wd launches, all that good stuff lol. It was at that time I noticed a really awful rattling noise when I went wot at low speeds... I'd describe it as someone putting a metal zip tie around your driveshaft! I explained it to the dealer and they said bring it in. Their "tech" told me that he thinks since the truck was lowered the pinion angle was off. So I picked the truck up after hours and about 3 miles from the dealer I noticed it was still doing it, ugh! Talked to the tech the next day and he said oh well you have to fix that... WHAT?! So I adjusted the pinion and it still made this noise. My next thought was is the yoke pushing in to the transmission?.. so I pulled the driveshaft out and had it shortened an inch... still no luck.

At this point I was furious, I took the truck back to the dealer and had a nice conversation with the owner and said "fix my truck" as politely as I could.

2 days later I get a call from the tech again and he thinks it's a motor mount?? I said you're joking right, the truck has 5k miles. He said with the high hp (mind you the truck laid down 375rwhp) it was making he thinks that I possibly broke a motor mount. Me wanting my truck back, I said ok whatever just fix it. He then proceeds to give me a quote for how much it would cost to have it fixed. I demanded to speak with the owner of the dealership and asked him what happened to "honoring the warranty". He explained to me that things like this will break over time and they can't replace them for me for free?? TOTAL BS!!!

So I went and picked my truck up. Checked over the motor mounts myself and they looked perfect. As I was under the truck I noticed that one of the o2 sensors was rubbing on the cab floor... I thought there's no way this could be it. I unbolted the o2 sensor, put a little speed dent in the floor, bolted the o2 sensor back up and took the truck out for a run... no rattling!!! I guess the driveline had maybe walked back just far enough for this o2 sensor to be rubbing on the cab floor when it was all being torqued down at wot.

Phew, sorry for the novel.. but the moral of the story is get it in writing! They can say what they want at the time of purchase, but when it comes down to fixing it... if you don't have anything in writing than it's your word against there's. Maybe you've purchased motorcycles from this dealer for 30 years and you grew up with the owner so you trust them and that's great if that's the case... but for me, one bad experience was enough to learn my lesson not to trust anyone when they say "we'll honor the warranty".
