When I bought my Ford Edge the fellow writing up the contract laid out a very strong arm tactic on the extended warranty and even said the car was not covered unless I bought it. It was late so I said yes. Did a bit more research after I got back into town and went to the dealer and canceled it. The refund went off of the financing.
If I go back to this dealer I'll make sure the same guy does not do the contract.
I did get the extended warranty on the CB after my experience with the 650L, but it was less than $500. On the Subaru we declined the extended warranty and did not have the trouble with the sale like I had at the Ford dealer. It really varies from person to person. One reason I have kept the Edge for so long is that I really hate the buying experience (and the car has been pretty darn good). I'd rather visit the dentist.
