Its a 540lbs standard bike with an adaquate yet soft suspension and made to just cruise around. When i first bought mine i complained that it was limited by factory on top end and this and that but became used to the fact that its just a modern retro old school ujm. You can change the bars and get upgraded suspension and have ecu reflashed, full exhaust to pep thjngs up and tweak it around a bit but at the end of the day its still a cb1100 not a cbr1000. Enjoy it for what it is and not what it could be if this and that. I modded mine to my liking and you will too. Ive learned to accept the true meaning of this bike. I really enjoy the bike now but down the road if i get board i know there are many many other options out there and companies are constantly improving on performance, quality, technology and stlyle. Who knows what i might like next year or five years from now. For now the cb1100 is my flavor.
There's a contradiction here, isn't there? You, Paulb and many other members of this forum have all 'modded [your bikes] to [your] liking' thereby taking your bike to 'what [you believe] it could be'. While I won't follow Paulb, I find his mod interesting because it shows the basic bones of the bike have significant potential for improvement.

Changing fenders, the seat, a slip on pipe, handlebars and levers does not change the fact that it is a cb1100. Stock engine, stock suspension, stock frame makes it a stock bike with personal bling. Kind of like when the wife puts on make up and does her hair to go out to dinner, she may look nice at the moment but at the end of the night its the same person. Lol:-) Remember that most of the mods we do are just for looks or noise and do not change the class of bike. You don't start with a naked standard and end up with a super sport race bike.
