Agree with David statement.
Also check for dark current, aka parasitic draw, which is between 20 to 50 mA = 0.020 - 0.050 A.
May have to wait a few minutes to get the proper reading after the ignition is OFF. All you need is a basic multimeter.

A = amps
1000 mA = 1 A
