I missed your story, offroad. Holy smokes! Sounds like you thought quick and saved yourself.
I have a similar story. About a month after I bought my F800GT, I was waiting at a gas station for a car to pull forward so I could access the pump. To my surprise the car was put into reverse and backed right at me. Mind you, I'm sitting there in hi-viz helmet and jacket. Before I could recover from my surprise and toot the horn, the rear bumper made contact with the bike's front tire and started pushing the bike over. It started to go over hard and I just leaped clear like you did. I think the repair estimate was $3500. I think I only replaced a bar end, decided to live with the scratched case, and proceeded to spend most of the money on accessories.
